Here is my response to that

More news today from the Seoul government’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission from South Korea. This group is working on investigating allegations of U.S. military units killing defenseless Korean’s during the Korean War (1950 – 1953). Of course the purpose of our good ally the Republic of South Korea, which only exists today because of the sacrifice and support of the American military and people; is to obtain an official apology from the American government and financial compensation for the loss of civilian life.

Here is my response to that. I say the U.S. government should agree to compensate those people AFTER the ROK government has repaid the U.S. for the cost of every dollar spent to ship military forces to the embattled country, every American life lost, every American wounded or listed as MIA, every piece of military equipment that was lost during the war, along with a reasonable yearly fee for the tens of thousands of U.S. service members that have been stationed in the ROK ever since.

After we have collected the agreed to amount from the ROK government we should be willing to pay those civilian “survivors” of the American use of military force in the defense of our poor Korean allies. I for one wouldn’t want to hold my breath awaiting that ROK payment.

This is the kind of crap that drives my blood pressure up! Yes, innocent civilians die during war. Innocent civilians have died in virtually every war since the first war ever fought. It is one of the many reasons that wars are terrible things for all involved. No matter who “wins” the war, the civilians always pay the highest price. Now the ROK government wants to demand an apology and financial compensation from the country that pulled their lousy bacon out of the fire? I say let them keep their Reebok’s and Nike’s, and we will keep our apology and money thank you very much.
